Stephen Saxon (voice) and Gordon Lustig (guitar) have led High Holy Days services since 2011 at Napa’s Congregation Beth Shalom. They have introduced non-standard repertoire into the liturgy, including music by Leonard Cohen, Michael Jackson, and other popular artists. They also contribute original songs. Expect to hear this music plus new material in an evening that will be at times moving, at times funny, and always entertaining.

Gordon Lustig is a graduate of the Dick Grove School of Music, where he studied under the likes of Nelson Riddle, Henry Mancini, Billy May and Dave Grusin. He composed for television shows produced by Howie Mandel, John Ritter and Diane English. He is musical director of Congregation Beth Shalom in Napa.

Stephen Saxon has been a cantor and trumpet player in the Bay Area for decades. He has performed with top names from the jazz, klezmer and classical communities, including Kitka, the San Francisco Symphony, John Williams, Gunther Schuller, Frank Zappa, Michael Brecker, David Grisman, Bobby McFerrin, Shlomo Carlebach, the Klezmorim, the Klezmer Conservatory Band and KlezX.
